ISLAMABAD: Pakistan did not launch a strike against Afghanistan as our policy is not against the Afghan people, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said.

Afghanistan has accused Pakistan of striking its civilian population in Khost, Kunar and Paktia province.

Talking to senior reporters, he said that Pakistan has not attacked Afghanistan. He said Pakistan’s policy is against terrorism, not against the Afghan people.

He added that Pakistan has held several rounds of talks with Afghanistan, but no result was achieved. Lt Gen Chaudhry said that Pakistan’s only demand is the elimination of terrorists.

He also stated that Khawarij terrorists were left in Afghanistan to carry out attacks and that they use American-made weapons.

DG ISPR said that since November 4, 910 operations have been carried out based on secret intelligence. He clarified that if Pakistan conducts any operation, it will announce it and will not act secretly.

He added that Afghan terrorists were involved in the four recent attacks in Pakistan. Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that Pakistan does not target Afghan civilians, and any operation in Afghanistan will focus only on terrorists.

DG ISPR also stated that in the attack on Wana Cadet College, foreign elements used American weapons that had been left in Afghanistan.

On the court-martial of Faiz Hameed, he said it is a legal and judicial matter, and speculation should be avoided.

He further said that the case of General Faiz Hameed is under trial, and the public will be informed as soon as a decision is made.
