Web desk: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik announced on Tuesday that the government will keep gas prices unchanged from January 1, 2026, following directives from the Prime Minister.
Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said during a briefing to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum that no change is being made in the price of gas on the instructions of the Prime Minister.
He announced that the price of gas is not being increased from January 2026 on the orders of the Prime Minister.
He added further that the circular debt of gas is not increasing anymore. Adding that the circular debt of gas is 3 thousand billion, which includes LPS.
The Minister of Petroleum said that Qatar maintained the terms of the contract in a difficult situation.
He said that the LNG cargo from Qatar went up to 30 dollars globally.
Adding that Qatar continued to supply us under the agreement. He further said that Pakistan values this relationship with Qatar.
He said that the flow of the circular debt of gas is zero. As of current, the circular debt of gas is 3 thousand billion rupees, 1700 billion rupees is interest in the circular debt of gas.
If the circular debt were increasing, the price of gas would have to be increased.
Relief for people
Pervaiz Malik says that the increase in circular debt in the gas sector has stopped; no new debt is being created.
Ali Pervez Malik said that the price of gas will not be increased for the next 6 months.
Adding more, Ali Pervez Malik says that due to the reforms, gas prices will remain stable for all consumers.
He added that, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, they are providing maximum relief to the people during the winter season.
The Petroleum Minister said that there is a good supply of gas to domestic consumers across the country, and no local gas field is closed.
