Web desk: Pakistan and India, traditional rivals in International Cricket, will meet on Sunday in the World Blind Women’s Cricket Tournament.

National women’s team captain Nirma Rafique said she expects a strong performance against India.

She added that Pakistan’s impressive 221-run victory over hosts Sri Lanka in the opening match has boosted the team’s morale and confidence.

In the inaugural World Cup match played in Colombo, Pakistan scored 331 runs without losing a wicket against Sri Lanka.

Fifteen-year-old all-rounder Mehreen Ali from Azad Jammu and Kashmir set a world record by scoring an unbeaten 230 runs off just 78 balls.

Pakistan will play its third match of the tournament against Nepal on November 18. The following day, the team will face Australia in the fourth match, and on November 20, Pakistan will clash with the United States.

Mahreen Ali Sets World Record

Pakistani batter Mahreen Ali made history in blind women’s cricket by scoring 230 runs, helping Pakistan defeat Sri Lanka by 221 runs in the Blind Women’s Cricket World Cup. The team posted an impressive total of 331 runs without losing a wicket.

Mahreen Ali faced just 78 balls to achieve her record-breaking score. In reply, Sri Lanka struggled and were bowled out for 120 runs.

Pakistani bowlers Noor Fatima, Huriya Malik, and Samira Malik each took one wicket, marking a dominant start for Pakistan in the tournament.

Following the match, Mahreen Ali dedicated her record to Pakistan and her parents. She also thanked the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council for their support, emphasising that her achievement was the result of consistent encouragement and rigorous training.

The victory underscored Pakistan’s growing strength in blind women’s cricket. With powerful batting and disciplined bowling, the team demonstrated excellent preparation.
