Could black rain happen in Pakistan after Iran attacks?

Pakistan Iran Black Rain

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) putting rumours to rest of possible ‘black rain’ in Pakistan has clarified that there is no possibility of such a phenomena in Pakistan.

After the recent severe bombing on oil installations in Iran, unusual pollution has been created in the environment, while in other countries of the region, concerns are also being expressed regarding possible weather effects.

According to experts, due to this situation, there is a possibility that polluted particles may reach some areas of Pakistan through western winds.

The Meteorological Department says that western winds coming from the direction of Iran will enter Pakistan in the next few days, carrying with them the polluted particles present in the atmosphere.

However, the department clarified that there is no possibility of “black rain” in Pakistan. As a precautionary measure, the Meteorological Department has instructed its regional offices that if rain occurs, its samples should be collected and sent to laboratories for analysis.

It is worth remembering that during the ongoing attacks on Iran, after Israel and USA targeted oil installations, reports of severe air pollution appeared in Tehran.

According to some reports, black clouds spread over the sky there, and an admixture of oil particles was seen in the rainwater, which created environmental concerns at the local level.

Due to this situation, discussion about possible effects is also ongoing in neighboring countries.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department today reported about the weather conditions that in Islamabad and its surrounding areas, the sky will remain cloudy with expected rain, and in some places, hailstorm is also possible.

In the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Shangla, heavy and torrential rain may occur at some places.

Similarly, in Battagram, Buner, Malakand, Mansehra, and Abbottabad, heavy rain is predicted in some areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, Khyber, Mohmand, Peshawar, Sawabi, Mardan, and Charsadda also have expected rain, while in Nowshera, Bannu, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, and Hangu, rain with thunder and lightning is possible.

In some places of these areas, hailstorm may also occur.

In Punjab, rain and hailstorm are possible in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, and Jhelum, while in Murree and Galyat areas, cloudy weather with rain and hailstorm is expected. In other districts of the province, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry.

In most areas of Sindh, the weather is expected to remain dry today, while in most districts of Balochistan, dry weather is also expected.

However, in Zhob, Qila Abdullah, and Pishin, heavy winds with thunder and lightning along with rain may occur.
