Pakistan Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, has stated that Israel must withdraw its forces from the occupied territories of Lebanon immediately and without conditions.
In his statement, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed emphasised that Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Lebanon.
He condemned the Israeli military actions in southern Lebanon in the strongest terms.
He further noted that over 400 civilians, including women and children, have lost their lives due to Israeli attacks, and more than 600,000 individuals have been displaced as a result of these operations.
He finally urged for an immediate cessation of the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the breaches of international humanitarian law.
Pakistan expresses support for the Lebanese armed forces
The Pakistani representative at the United Nations stated that the authority to employ force should be exclusively reserved for the Lebanese state and its institutions.
Pakistan expresses its support for enhancing the capabilities of the Lebanese armed forces and appreciates the initiatives of the Lebanese government aimed at bolstering stability and state authority.
Asim Iftikhar Ahmed asserted that Pakistan vehemently condemns the assaults on UN peacekeepers.
“UN peacekeepers sustained injuries due to Israeli attacks; their safety must be guaranteed.
The presence and positions of the Israeli military in southern Lebanon are deemed illegal and intolerable.
“Israel must withdraw its forces from the occupied Lebanese territories without delay or conditions, as the complete execution of Security Council Resolution 1701 is crucial for enduring peace, and that negotiations and diplomacy should take precedence over confrontation in the region,” the ambassador remarked.
