Pakistan T20 World Cup jersey unveiling postponed over ‘unavoidable reasons’

Pakistan jersey World Cup

With Pakistan’s participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 still in doubt, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the introduction of the national team’s official jersey for the tournament due to what it termed as “unavoidable reasons,” on Saturday.

According to well-placed sources, the PCB was originally supposed to unveil the team’s kit after the toss of second T20I against Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. But the ceremony was called off as uncertainty continues to surround Pakistan’s involvement in the World Cup which is to begin at a venue on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.

Sources went on to say that the PCB is expected to take a final decision on participation on Monday after high-level consultations. Pakistan is now due to start their World Cup championship against the Netherlands on February 7. They have been put in Group A along with traditional rivals India, the United States and Namibia.

The PCB on January 25th announced a 15-member squad for the tournament during a press conference in which Director of High performance and national selector Aqib Javed, white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and the T20Is captain Salman Ali Agha were present.

Several players such as captain Salman Ali Agha, Faheem Ashraf, Khawaja Mohammad Nafay, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Sahibzada Farhan, Usman Tariq have made their maiden call-up for a major ICC event.

Meanwhile, some experienced campaigners like Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan and Usman Khan have played in previous T20 World Cups since 2021.

Under the agreed “Fusion Formula” Pakistan will play all their matches in Sri Lanka and this will ensure that Pakistan will not tour India for the World Cup. If the Pakistan do reach the semi-finals or final, those matches will be played in Colombo, otherwise, the knockouts will be played at Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
