Pakistan has joined Gaza board of peace under UN resolutions

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said Pakistan’s decision to join Gaza Board of Peace has been taken under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

In his statement on social media platform X, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan has announced joining the Board of Peace (BoP) in support of the Gaza peace plan.

He said the decision was taken under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

The deputy prime minister said Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to a permanent ceasefire, humanitarian assistance, and Gaza’s reconstruction.

He added Pakistan has again supported the establishment of an independent Palestinian state through a fair and time-bound process.

He said the proposed Palestinian state will have Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Pakistan had accepted the invitation to join the Gaza Board of Peacen in response to an invitation from US President Donald Trump, to support the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan under the framework of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

Pakistan has expressed hope that the new framework will lead to a permanent ceasefire and an increased humanitarian aid for Palestinians and the reconstruction of Gaza.

The statement further emphasised its support for a credible, time-bound political process to achieve the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people, in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
