Pakistan, Morocco to strengthen defence cooperation

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif arrived in the Kingdom of Morocco on Monday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral defence ties between the two countries.

Upon his arrival at Casablanca Airport, the Defence Minister was received by Major General Ahmed Hatuto, Commander Casablanca Army, along with senior Moroccan government officials and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Morocco, Syed Adil Gilani.

During the visit, Pakistan and Morocco are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation, marking a significant step toward further enhancing bilateral defence relations. The MoU will establish an institutional framework for sustained defence engagement between the two countries.

The agreement is expected to open new avenues for cooperation in defence and security-related fields, including military training, exchange of professional experience, capacity building, and other joint initiatives.

As part of the visit, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif will hold meetings with Morocco’s Minister of State for National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Lodié. He will also lead delegation-level talks focusing on expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Officials described the signing of the MoU as a historic and mutually beneficial development that reflects the long-standing friendly relations between Pakistan and Morocco. The visit underscores the shared commitment of both countries to deepen collaboration in defence, security, and other sectors of common interest.
