Pakistan-New Zealand match

The Pakistan-New Zealand match of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has been abandoned due to rain.

The match was taking place at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Pakistan and New Zealand share a point each after tonight’s no-result as South Africa became the second team to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament

Experienced all-rounder Aliya Riaz remained the top-scorer for Pakistan with an unbeaten 28 off 52 deliveries, laced with three boundaries. Besides her, opener Muneeba Ali (22) and Natalia Pervaiz (10) could amass double figures in the rain-hit fixture.

Speaking after the match, Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana said: “As a bowling unit, all are happy. But we need to improve our batting. We have a couple of matches. We would like to play good cricket in the next few matches.

She added that her side would try to win the next two matches and end their tournament on a high note.

Earlier this month, the Indian women team won the match against Pakistan during Women’s World Cup match by 88 runs.

During this match, India’s women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur skipped the customary handshake with Pakistan’s captain Fatima Sana during the toss at the Women’s World Cup.
