Pakistan Railways has decided to operate special trains on the occasion of Eid ul Azha to facilitate passengers and reduce travel rush during the holidays.

According to sources, three Eid special trains will be operated this year, with each train comprising seven to eight coaches. The trains will connect major cities across the country to accommodate increased passenger demand ahead of Eid.

As per the schedule, the first Eid special train will depart from Quetta for Karachi on May 23.

The second special train will leave Karachi for Rawalpindi on May 24 and will travel through Multan, Faisalabad, and Sargodha.

Meanwhile, the third and final Eid special train will depart from Karachi for Lahore on May 25.

The initiative aims to ease passenger congestion during Eid holidays and provide more convenient travel facilities to the public.

However, Peshawar has not been included in the Eid special train routes this year, meaning no direct Eid special train service will operate to or from the city.

Earlier, Eid ul Azha holidays were announced in Pakistan from May 26 to 28, a notification was also issued.

According to the notification, issued after the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Eid ul Azha holidays will be observed on May 26, 27, and 28.

With Eid ul Azha 2026 approaching, cattle markets across Pakistan are witnessing heavy activity as traders display sacrificial animals and people rush to buy them.

Major cities, including Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta, as well as smaller towns, have set up dedicated cattle markets. These markets will remain open until the third day of Eid.

Traders have brought a wide range of sacrificial animals to the markets, but many citizens are struggling with rising prices due to inflation. The cost of animals has increased sharply this year.

For example, a goat that previously sold for around Rs50,000 is now being sold for more than Rs100,000. Prices of larger animals have also gone up, making them unaffordable for many buyers. Citizens are calling on authorities to control prices and stop artificial inflation.
