The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the occurrence of rain with thunder and lightning in different parts of the country.
According to PMD Islamabad is likely to receive rain with thunder storms while hail is also expected at few locations.
There will be rainfall at Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Peshawar, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Bajaur, Mohmand and Khyber.
Western weather systems have moved into the upper regions of the country with rains and snow fall expected from today.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rain with snowfall in upper areas is expected from today till tomorrow.
Rain and snowfall also expected in Murree and Galiyat today till tomorrow. The Met Office said snowfall could lead to slippery condition on the roads and potential risk of landslide.
Also rain is expected in Orakzai, Dera Ismail Khan and in Waziristan. In Balochistan rain is expected from Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Mastung, Kalat, Turbat, Chagai, Gwadar and Kharan. Zhob, Musa Khel may also receive rain at few places.
Additionally, light rain is expected at different places along the areas of Sindh.
The Meteorological Department further said that likely rain and snowfall with strong winds and thunderstorm is likely to prevail in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
NDMA issues alert for rain, snowfall
Earlier, the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a weather alert for several parts of the country.
According to it, rain and snowfall are expected from February 8 to 10 in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Azad Kashmir.
Weather in Punjab
According to the advisory, most areas of Punjab are likely to receive rain. Especially on February 9 and 10. Snowfall is also expected in Murree and nearby hill areas.
Rain may affect Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab, Jhang, Narowal and Sialkot.
Southern districts of Punjab may also face hailstorms along with strong winds during this period.
