PSL 12 Preparations

The 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held from March 18 to May 2, with matches scheduled to take place in five to six cities across the country.

According to the announced schedule, the tournament will feature players representing different franchises, with the teams set to finalise their squads through an auction scheduled for January 23. The event is expected to expand the league’s reach by bringing matches to more cities across Pakistan.

The decisions were taken during a meeting of the PSL Governing Council chaired by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting discussed preparations for the upcoming edition, including the player selection process and arrangements for the tournament.

The council decided that the process of directly signing players would begin on October 23 and continue until November 23. Under the new condition, players eligible for direct signings must not have participated in either of the previous two PSL seasons.

The January 23 auction will determine which teams secure the services of players for the 12th edition, allowing franchises to build their squads ahead of the tournament.

Speaking about the league’s expansion, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the 11th edition had concluded in front of record crowds. He expressed his intention to take the competition to more cities in the upcoming season, highlighting the league’s importance to cricket in Pakistan.

Naqvi said the PSL had become the country’s biggest platform for cricket, emphasising the importance of expanding its presence beyond the locations that have traditionally hosted matches.

The decision to stage matches in five to six cities reflects the PCB’s plan to broaden access to the tournament and bring the excitement of the league to more cricket fans nationwide.

With the dates confirmed and the player selection process outlined, preparations for PSL 12 are set to move forward in the coming months.
