Web desk: Two Sri Lankan players, captain Charith Asalanka and fast bowler Asitha Fernando, will miss the upcoming Pakistan T20I tri-series after falling unwell, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board confirmed.
According to the board, both players will not participate in the upcoming Pakistan T20I tri-series.
Two Sri Lankan Players Fall Sick, Fly Back
Sri Lanka Cricket Board has confirmed that two Sri Lankan players are unwell and have returned home. This includes the captain Charith Asalanka and fast bowler Asitha Fernando.
In their absence, Dasun Shanaka has been named as the captain of the Sri Lankan team.
Tri-Nation Series
Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe will compete in a seven-match T20I tri-series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 18 to 29, marking the first-ever T20I tri-nation tournament to be held in Pakistan.
Each team will play four league matches, with the top two sides advancing to the final scheduled for Saturday, November 29.
All matches will start at 6:00 pm PST, with the toss set for 5:30 pm. The hosts, led by Salman Ali Agha, are entering the tri-series in strong T20I form.
Earlier this year, Pakistan reached the final of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE and subsequently defeated South Africa 2-1 in a three-match T20I series at home.
They also achieved a dominant 3-0 series win over Bangladesh in Lahore.
Prior to the tri-series, Pakistan completed a full bilateral series against South Africa, which included two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
The hosts drew the Test series 1-1 and won the ODI series 2-1 in Faisalabad.
Pakistan also secured a 3-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded ODI series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
