Pakistan U19 bowled a disciplined spell to knock New Zealand U19 out for 110 in 28.3 overs in their Super Six game in the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2026 at the Harare Sports Club on Tuesday.
After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bowl first, the right choice given how quickly their pace-attack ripped the New Zealand batting line apart.
Despite the two teams having issues with consistency during the group stages, the contest was expected to be competitive. Pakistan qualified for the Super Six stage with two points, carried through from their win against Zimbabwe.
New Zealand had no victory and after two rain-abandoned matches against the USA and Bangladesh and had been beaten by India.
Pakistan’s bowlers set the tone early, they struck at regular intervals and never let New Zealand get settled. Abdul Subhan was the outstanding performer, with a remarkable spell of bowling taking 4 wickets for 11 runs and destroyed New Zealand’s batting to pieces.
Ali Raza was also very dangerous with 3 wickets for 36 runs, and kept up pressure with aggressive lines and length. Mohammad Sayyam, Momin Qamar and Ahmed Hussain also chipped in with a wicket each to ensure there was no recovery for the opposition.
New Zealand suffered a dramatic collapse losing eight wickets before scoring 100 runs. Hugo Bogue remained the only fruitful spot in an otherwise disappointing batting show with 39 runs.
With New Zealand dismissed cheaply, the Pakistanis will seek to take advantage of the occasion as they pursue a small target in an important match which could affect their chances in a semi-final.
