On Friday, Pakistan, the U19 Asia Cup champions, will take on England in the opening match of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare.
The U19 Pakistan team recently won the U19 Asia Cup by defeating India in the final by 191 runs; they also won the tri-series in Zimbabwe by beating the hosts by nine wickets.
The U19 team will be carrying this momentum and hopes to add a third trophy to their cabinet.
The U19 Pakistan team has already won two U19 World Cups in the 2004 and 2006 editions. The team will be eyeing to win it for the third time.
The ICC U19 World Cup will be played in Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15 to February 6. Pakistan is placed in the “C” group of the 16-team tournament.
For their second match Pakistan will be facing Scotland on January 19 at the Takashinga Sports Club. Their final group match will be with Zimbabwe in the same location.
After the group stage,s the tournament will enter its Super Six Stage. The second stage will be played in Harare and Bulawayo from January 24 to February 1.
The top 4 sides in the Super Six will advance on to the semifinals, which will be played on February 3 and 4. The tournament’s final match will be played on February 6th at the Harare Sports Club on Friday.
Pakistan U19 team, ahead of the mega event, took part in training sessions and played two warm-up matches for their preparations. The first warm-up match was played against Bangladesh on Saturday.
The match was sadly washed out after 36.3 overs. The match was being played at Masvingo Sports Club.
The second warm-up match was on Tuesday at the Bulawayo Athletic Club, where the USA was defeated by Pakistan by 69 runs.
