LAHORE: The second match of the T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa is being played today at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore and a comprehensive security and traffic plan is in place for the convenience of the public.
Lahore Police has made strict security arrangements on the occasion of the match.
Special police forces are deployed in and around Gaddafi Stadium, while checking has been tightened at the entry and exit points. According to CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamiana, full security is being provided to domestic and foreign players and cricket fans. He says that Lahore Police is providing a safe and conducive environment for the promotion of sports.
During the match, Dolphin Squad, Special Protection Unit and Elite Force personnel will continuously patrol, while all important places will be monitored through the cameras of Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
TRAFFIC PLAN
Traffic Police Lahore has issued a comprehensive plan to maintain traffic flow. According to CTO Lahore, more than 1,000 traffic personnel are deployed on duty. 20 forklifts and 4 breakdown vehicles will also be available to prevent illegal parking.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, citizens coming from Ferozepur Road will park their vehicles at Government College Gulberg via Kalma Chowk to National Park. Fans coming from Defence and Cantt will reach Main Boulevard Gulberg via Hussain Chowk or Sherpao Bridge and park their vehicles at Liberty Parking. Sunfort Hotel Liberty Parking has been allocated for citizens coming from Mughalpura and Garhi Shahu.
According to CTO Lahore Dr. Athar Waheed, no road will be closed permanently. All main highways including Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road and Ferozepur Road will remain open for general traffic. The third and final match of the T20 series will be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on November 1.
