Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Monday cautioned the Afghan Taliban to refrain from remarks on Pakistan’s domestic matters, urging adherence to international norms of non-interference.
“We have noted the recent statements made by the spokesperson of the Taliban regime regarding Pakistan’s internal affairs,” the FO said, adding the Afghan spokesperson should “prioritise issues pertinent to Afghanistan and refrain from commenting on matters outside their jurisdiction.”
The statement said Pakistan “does not require outside advice” on internal issues and called on the Taliban regime to abide by commitments made to the international community during the Doha process.
It further urged Kabul to prevent Afghan soil from being used for terrorism against other countries.
Instead of “baseless propaganda,” the FO said, the Taliban should focus on forming “an inclusive and truly representative government.”
Pakistan reiterated expectations that Kabul respect its obligations while maintaining constructive, neighbourly relations.
The FO was responding to a statement by Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid on protest by a banned political party, which has ended yesterday.
