A fresh spell of rain and snowfall has tightened the grip of cold weather across Balochistan and northern regions. The temperatures are dropping below zero at several high-altitude locations, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Thursday.
Balochistan weather today

Snowfall has pushed temperatures below the freezing point, with a recorded minimum of minus 1 degree Celsius.
A temperature of -3 degrees Celsius has been recorded at Kordak Top and Khwaja Imran.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) are continuing operations to clear snow from highways in northern areas.
According to PMD, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are also expected to receive rain over the next two days.
Lahore weather today
The weather in Lahore is partly cloudy. According to PMD, intermittent rain is expected today and tomorrow in the region.
Additionally, the temperature is expected to fall further.
Islamabad weather today
The weather in the federal capital, Islamabad, and neighbouring areas, including Rawalpindi, remains overcast.
There is a high chance of rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in the Twin Cities.
Azad Kashmir weather today
In most areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the weather has turned cloudy. In addition, light snowfall has also begun on the high altitude mountains.
Cold conditions have intensified in the local regions.
PMD advisory
According to PMD, due to heavy snowfall on January 22, there is a risk of slippery roads and flooding in local streams in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, and Zhob.
• During January 22 and 23, heavy rain/severe snowfall may lead to road closures and traffic disruption due to slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, and Rawalakot, PMD reports.
• Heavy rain or severe snowfall may cause flooding in local streams in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, while hilly areas face the risk of landslides and avalanches.
• During this period, tourists are advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel, according to the PMD advisory.
Pakistan weather tomorrow: January 23, 2026
On Friday, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and upper Punjab.
Snowfall is likely in mountainous areas. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rain or snowfall may also occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, and Kashmir.
