Web Desk: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that the country will not take steps to disarm Hamas. He emphasised that both civil and military leadership are fully aligned on this approach and that Pakistan’s role will remain limited to supporting peace efforts.
Diplomatic actions and regional stability
Speaking to journalists, Dar said Pakistan recently issued a demarche to the United Kingdom, calling it a necessary and appropriate action. He explained that every country has a responsibility to prevent its territory from being used to support violence or instability.
Military and diplomatic capabilities tested
Dar highlighted that Pakistan’s military and diplomatic capacities were tested during a recent four-day conflict in South Asia. He praised the armed forces for delivering an effective and robust response, underscoring Pakistan’s readiness to defend its national interests.
Strengthening international ties
The deputy prime minister noted that trade with the United States has increased, and counterterrorism cooperation has strengthened, helping Pakistan break out of diplomatic isolation. He also emphasised that resolving the Kashmir issue is crucial for sustainable peace in the region, asserting that peace is impossible without Kashmiri self-determination.
Progress with neighbouring countries
Dar described improved relations with Bangladesh as a key diplomatic achievement this year. He added that both countries aim to further strengthen ties following the upcoming elections, signalling a continued focus on regional collaboration and stability.
