Pakistan makes winning start at Asian Junior Squash Championship

Pakistan’s young squash stars impressively began their campaign at the 33rd Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship 2026, currently underway in Panzhihua, China, according to media reports.

The tournament, which runs until May 24, has already seen several Pakistani players deliver dominant performances in the opening rounds across multiple age categories.

In the Boys Under-19 event, second seed Abdullah Nawaz advanced to the third round after defeating Razaka Edhimi Suleman 3-0 in an easy 27-minute match. Abdullah had received a bye in the first round.

In the Boys Under-17 category, Noman Khan defeated China’s Liao Zhongyu in just 18 minutes, while Muhammad Amir Arif beat Thailand’s Peemawat Pawan Sripok 3-0 in 20 minutes. In the Boys Under-15 event, Sohail Adnan defeated Alexander Moratis in only 11 minutes.

In the Boys Under-13 category, Muhammad Mustafa Khan secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Joseph Alexander Chang in 23 minutes without dropping a game. In the Girls Under-15 event, fourth seed Mahnoor Ali defeated Anna Yogye 3-0 in just 10 minutes to reach the third round.

Her sister, eighth seed Saharsh Ali, also advanced after a hard-fought 3-1 win over China’s Zuoyue Chen Yan in the second round, with the match lasting 36 minutes. Both sisters had received first-round byes and automatically qualified for the second round.
