Pakistan’s women’s cricket team has departed for Dubai to take part in the upcoming Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
The tournament will be played in Dubai from August 28 to September 13, with Pakistan among the teams competing for the regional title.
The national side will begin its campaign on September 1 with a match against Thailand.
The opening game will give Pakistan an opportunity to make a strong start to the tournament before facing tougher opposition later.
Pakistan to face Indian team
One of the most anticipated matches of the tournament will take place on September 5, when the women’s teams of Pakistan and India face each other in Dubai.
Matches between Pakistan and India traditionally attract attention of the majority audience, and the upcoming Asia Cup contest is expected to be one of the major fixtures of the tournament.
Pakistan will then play its final match against Hong Kong on September 7.
The national team will aim to produce consistent performances throughout the matches to strengthen its chances of progressing further in the competition.
Pakistan’s participation in the tournament provides the players with another opportunity to compete against teams from across Asia in the shortest format of international cricket.
The team has now travelled to Dubai ahead of its opening.
Pakistan national team will play its three mentioned matches within a seven-day period, by facing Thailand on September 1, India on September 5 and Hong Kong on September 7.
Pakistan team expected to meet King Charles
On the other hand, early reports stated that the Pakistan cricket team, currently touring the UK, is expected to meet King Charles after the second Test against England.
The second Test is scheduled to begin at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground on August 27.
The meeting is likely to take place after the second Test ends at Lord’s on September 2.
Sources said the Pakistani delegation will be led by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Members of the national cricket team are also expected to attend the meeting.
Pakistan and England are currently playing a three-Test series in the UK.
The meeting is expected to become one of the memorable moments of Pakistan’s ongoing tour of England.
