The possible Super Seven round schedule for Pakistan in the ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2027 has emerged. If the national team qualifies for the Super Seven, it will play its first match against New Zealand on October 26.
The One-Day Cricket World Cup tournament, to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, will feature 14 teams and a total of 57 matches will be played. The World Cup will begin on October 2, 2027, in Windhoek, Namibia, with a three-team Super Series. The winner of this stage will secure a place in the group stage.
The formal group stage will begin on October 7 in Cape Town, where defending champions Australia and India will face each other.
According to the pre-tournament seedings released by the ICC, Pakistan has been given the status of A3. The Pakistan team will take on New Zealand in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
On October 30, Pakistan and England will face each other in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, while on November 3, the match against hosts South Africa will be played in Durban.
The clash against traditional rivals India in the Super Seven round will take place on November 7 in Cape Town. In addition, the national team will play against Sri Lanka on November 10 and Australia on November 13 in Bloemfontein.
In the 2027 World Cup, Pakistan will face India and Australia at least twice, while a third meeting with both teams is also possible in the final or semi-final. In the group stage, the Pakistan-India clash is scheduled for October 10 in Johannesburg, while the Pakistan-Australia match is scheduled for October 22 in Paarl.
New format consisting of 3 stages
According to the ICC, 12 teams have been divided into two groups in the group stage, with six teams in each group.
Group A includes Pakistan, India, Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A, while Group B includes New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh and Qualifier B.
Each team will play one match against every other team in its group. The top three teams from both groups, along with the best-performing fourth-placed team from the two groups, will qualify for the Super Seven stage.
In the Super Seven, seven teams will play on a round-robin basis, with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-finals.
The first semi-final of the World Cup will be played on November 17 in Cape Town, while the second will be played on November 18 in Tshwane. The final is scheduled for November 21, 2027, in Johannesburg, while November 22 will be the reserve day if required.
