Pakistani funded STEM scholarships

The British Council has announced fully funded scholarships for women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to study in the United Kingdom for the academic year of 2026-27 under its scheme called The Women in STEM Scholarship Program.

Offered for the sixth consecutive year, the initiative forms part of the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships, and seeks to increase opportunities for women from the STEM sector, promoting leadership capacity and innovation, as well as initiatives to create greater diversity within the global scientific community.

The scholarship covers one year master’s degree course programs at leading universities and research institutions across the United Kingdom.

Since the program began, it has been working with 43 universities across the UK and has provided about 500 scholarships to women around the world.

For students who join in 2026-27 there is a total of £40,000 per scholarship which will cover tuition fees, living costs, travel costs and visa fees, health insurance and English language support for eligible students.

Globally, 90 scholarships will be available in 30 countries with 25 specifically available to applicants from South Asia through partnerships with five universities in the United Kingdom.

James Hampson, Country Director of the British Council in Pakistan said the programme is an expression of the organisation’s commitment towards supporting talented Pakistani women by helping them access world class education in the UK.

He added the initiative is aimed at empowering women to be the future female leaders in science, technology and innovation.

Dr Jen Bardsley, Global Head of Enabling Research and Science at the British Council said the scholarships are aimed at reducing barriers, which often prevented women from entering and progressing in STEM careers.

Applications for the program are due to be opened up until late April 2026, and interested candidates are able to register their applications through the official British Council website.
