The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated an internal disciplinary inquiry following media reports concerning alleged breaches of discipline and conduct involving Pakistan players.
According to a statement shared by Amir Mir, Advisor to the PCB Chairman and Director Media & Digital Communications, the matter is currently being reviewed internally under the board’s standard disciplinary procedures.
Reports circulating on social media claim that nine Pakistan players have been fined $800 each, while one player has reportedly been fined more than $800. Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan is reportedly not among those fined.
The reported fines are said to be linked to alleged visits to bars or clubs during the team’s recent West Indies series. However, the PCB has not officially confirmed these specific claims.
The PCB said all individuals concerned are being given due consideration as part of the inquiry. The board also cautioned stakeholders and the public against relying on speculative or unverified reports, particularly those originating from external sources.
The PCB has stated that it will not comment further on the matter at this stage and advised the public to rely on its official communications for verified information.
Phone data obtained of players
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has obtained the phone data of Pakistani cricketers in London.
The board has expanded its investigation into Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan following Pakistan’s defeat in the Lord’s Test. If solid evidence is found, both players could face heavy fines and bans.
The investigation is also looking into the players’ activities and the people they remained in contact with.
It cannot be ruled out that the two players may not get another opportunity to represent Pakistan in the future.
According to credible sources quoted by Geo News, after Pakistan suffered a 194-run defeat in the Lord’s Test, the team’s security officer took possession of both players’ mobile phones when they returned to the hotel.
The phones were returned several hours later after their data had reportedly been transferred elsewhere.
When contacted, a PCB spokesperson declined to confirm the development, the channel reported.
