Pakistani players make significant gains in latest ICC T-20I rankings

Pakistan National cricket team players have made significant gains in the latest ICC T-20I rankings ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.

Star batsman Saim Ayub has made a significant jump of eight places to 27th, while captain Salman Ali Agha has climbed 12 spots to 29th with 589 points.

In the batting rankings, opener Sahibzada Farhan has slipped from fifth to seventh place with 715 points.

Former captain Babar Azam has dropped three places to 34th. Mohammad Rizwan has fallen six places to 67th with 479 points, while Fakhar Zaman has slipped five places to 74th. Youngster Hasan Nawaz has also dropped six places to 90th.

At the top of the batting rankings, India’s Abhishek Sharma retained his position as the number one T20I batsman, followed by England’s Phil Salt in second place. There was a change at third position, with England’s Jos Buttler moving up, while India’s Tilak Verma dropped to fourth.

In the bowlers’ rankings, Pakistan’s mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed achieved a career-best ranking, rising to second place with 748 points, ahead of India’s Varun Chakravarthy. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is now third.

Spinner Mohammad Nawaz climbed eight places to seventh with 672 points. Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi dropped five places to 19th, Salman Mirza fell four places to 22nd, and Sufyan Muqeem dropped five places to 38th. Among other bowlers, Saim Ayub slipped four places to 58th, Haris Rauf dropped nine places to 66th, Shadab Khan jumped 33 places to 72nd, and Faheem Ashraf fell 11 places to 87th.

In the all-rounders’ rankings, Saim Ayub has overtaken Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza to claim the top position, with Raza now second and India’s Hardik Pandya third. Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz is fourth with 230 points, up one place. Shadab Khan climbed 13 places to 26th, while Faheem Ashraf dropped six places to 46th. Salman Ali Agha moved up seven places to 54th, whereas Shaheen Afridi slipped further down the rankings.
