Canada’s prestigious University of British Columbia (UBC) has started accepting applications for its Master’s programme in engineering for the September 2027 academic session.
Candidates from around the world, including Pakistani students, can apply for admission to the programme and seek financial assistance.
Application Deadline
The university is offering admission to its Master of Applied Science (MASc) programme in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The research-based degree will provide students with opportunities to conduct research in their respective fields.
Candidates seeking admission for the September 2027 intake must submit their applications by January 15, 2027. Pakistani students and other international applicants are eligible to apply.
Financial Assistance
According to figures provided by the university, students receiving financial assistance were awarded median funding of approximately C$32,575 per year during their first two academic years.
After deducting tuition fees and other academic expenses, students received a net amount of approximately C$22,970 annually.
These figures represent the median funding received by students who secured financial assistance. However, the university administration has clarified that this amount is not guaranteed for every student.
Funding depends on the availability of scholarships, research assistantships, teaching assistantships and the financial resources of the relevant supervising professor.
Tuition Fees
Annual tuition fees for international students are approximately C$10,081.65.
In addition, eligible international students may receive an International Tuition Award of up to C$3,200 per year.
The award can help reduce tuition expenses, subject to the applicant meeting the relevant eligibility requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. They should have a strong academic record and demonstrate proficiency in English.
Candidates are also required to submit three letters of recommendation. These letters help assess their academic abilities, previous performance and suitability for research.
The university has not made the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) mandatory for admission to the programme.
Applicants are therefore advised to prepare their academic credentials, proof of English-language proficiency and other required documents before submitting their applications.
How to Apply
Interested students should visit the university’s official admissions portal to review the programme requirements, application procedure and financial assistance details.
Applicants are also advised to confirm the availability of funding and check all eligibility requirements before submitting their applications.
