Web desk: Pakistan’s women’s national football team has achieved a major milestone as it has been officially cleared to take part in the FIFA Series for the first time, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) confirmed.
For the first time in the country’s history, the Pakistan women’s football team is set to take part directly in an official FIFA event.
This represents a significant milestone for national sports, as Pakistan earns a place in the FIFA Football Series.
It is an initiative launched by FIFA President Gianni Infantino for national teams that do not qualify for the FIFA World Cup, which takes place every four years.

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Mohsin Gilani welcomed the development, calling it a “historic moment” for the country.
He noted that although Pakistan previously featured in FIFA qualifiers. This will mark the national women’s team’s first direct appearance in a FIFA-sanctioned event.
He thanked the FIFA President for making the opportunity possible. Gilani said the inclusion will motivate young female footballers nationwide.
He added that seeing Pakistan’s flag represented at a FIFA event would be a proud milestone for him as PFF President.
He said the decision has revived hopes for a “bright and promising future” for football in Pakistan.
Further describing it as the beginning of significant progress ahead.
“We touched upon key topics such as the development of the women’s football team. And the men’s team potentially participating in next year’s FIFA Series,” Infantino stated.
“President Gilani brings significant experience and football management know-how to the role. And I look forward to seeing our game take positive strides under his leadership,” he added.
Pakistan’s women’s team is currently ranked 154th in the FIFA Women’s World Ranking among 198 nations.
For the 2026 Women’s FIFA Series, FIFA has placed Pakistan in the Ivory Coast group.
The final schedule, including match dates and opponents, is expected to be announced later.
