IT exports of Pakistan have shown consistent growth, with revenues approaching $3 billion by the conclusion of the first eight months of the ongoing financial year.
As reported by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), revenues from IT and IT-enabled services increased to $2.97 billion during the period from July to February, in contrast to the $2.48 billion noted during the same timeframe in the previous financial year, marking a year-on-year rise of 19.6 percent.
Nonetheless, the inflows from the IT sector have experienced a gradual decline over the last two months.
The sector generated $437 million in export earnings in December 2025, but this amount fell to $374 million in January and further decreased to $365 million in February 2026, suggesting a downward trend in monthly IT exports.
Experts indicate that IT exports may encounter additional volatility in the upcoming months due to the ongoing US–Israel conflict with Iran, which has impacted the global economy and compelled numerous companies to postpone their development and expansion initiatives.
IT exports of Pakistan to the US and Gulf regions have also been negatively impacted by the prevailing regional tensions, which could complicate the country’s efforts to meet its ambitious export goal of $5 billion for the financial year 2025–26.
At the current rate, if Pakistan sustains an average monthly IT export figure of approximately $365 million, total IT exports may only reach around $4.5 billion by the end of the financial year.
IT exports in Pakistan reach record high
Earlier, as per official statistics, IT exports amounted to USD 437 million in December 2025, representing the first instance where monthly exports surpassed the USD 400 million mark.
This achievement indicated a 23 percent increase from USD 356 million month-on-month and a 26 percent rise year-on-year compared to USD 348 million in December of the previous year.
This strong performance was not limited to just one month.
In the first half of FY26, Pakistan’s ICT exports rose to USD 2.24 billion, reflecting a 20 percent year-on-year growth.
This increase established ICT as the largest and most reliable contributor to services exports, while also yielding the highest trade surplus among various services categories.
