Pakistan’s IT exports hit record high

Pakistan’s information technology and ICT-enabled services sector has posted its strongest performance on record, underscoring the rapid rise of the country’s digital economy and its growing role in export earnings.

According to official figures, IT exports reached USD 437mn in December 2025, marking the first time monthly exports have crossed the USD 400m threshold. The milestone reflects a 23 percent month-on-month increase from USD 356m and a 26% year-on-year growth compared to USD 348mn in December last year.

The robust performance extends beyond a single month. During the first half of FY26, Pakistan’s ICT exports climbed to USD 2.24bn, registering a 20 percent increase year-on-year. This growth has positioned ICT as the largest and most consistent contributor within services exports, while also delivering the biggest trade surplus among services categories.

Industry analysts attribute the sustained upswing to a combination of factors, including expanding global demand for software development, IT services, and freelance expertise, alongside improved digital infrastructure and a steadily growing pool of skilled professionals.

With exports showing consistent momentum and new records being set, the IT and ICT sector is increasingly seen as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s export strategy and a key driver of long-term economic growth.
