Web desk: The mobile phone producing sector in Pakistan has reached a significant goal by registering a steep rise in production and assembly in the month of September 2025.

According to official data, the local manufacturing of mobile phones rose by 55 per cent in a single month. It reflects a strong growth in the country’s technology and industrial sectors.

Record Monthly Production

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reported that more than 3 million mobile phones were manufactured locally in September, marking the highest production level of the year.

The report highlighted a 40 per cent year-on-year and 55 per cent month-on-month growth. This indicates sustained momentum in the local mobile phone industry, which is a good sign.

PTA noted that this remarkable growth demonstrates the development of the local manufacturing ecosystem and the gradual improvement in Pakistan’s economy.

Nine-Month Production Surpasses 22 Million Units

In the first nine months of fiscal year 2025, the total output of locally assembled mobile phones reached 22.2 million units.

Out of these, 10 million were 2G phones. And 11 million were smartphones, reflecting the growing consumer shift toward advanced mobile technology.

Overall, mobile phone sales in the country recorded a 1 per cent increase during this period.

The 52 per cent ratio of smartphones to total sales has increased to 48 per cent of 2G devices.

Increasing Demand and Self-Sufficiency

The PTA states that 94 per cent of the domestic demand for mobile phones in Pakistan is currently being fulfilled locally.

This achievement highlights not only the improved quality of locally assembled devices but also the industry’s growing capacity to meet market needs.

Pakistan’s Mobile Manufacturing: Outlook for 2026

The report projects that mobile phone sales could increase by 7–8 per cent next year. This is an indicator that the technology industry and the wider Pakistani economy are up and coming.
