Web desk: Pakistan’s passport has entered the list of the world’s top 100 passports after a marked improvement in its global ranking, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the National Assembly on Tuesday.
The Pakistani passport has become one of the top 100 passports in the world after a significant improvement in global ranking.
Pakistan’s Passport Enters World’s Top 100
According to details, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the global ranking of Pakistan’s passport has improved significantly while answering questions in the National Assembly. Adding that it has now become one of the top 100 passports in the world.
The Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs said that this achievement is the result of reforms and technical improvements made by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.
Dr Tariq Fazal said that as of August 5, 2025, Pakistan has signed visa exemption agreements with 50 countries for diplomatic and official passport holders, while talks are underway with more countries.
He said that the Directorate General has introduced a modern e-passport personalisation system. And the security features of machine-readable passports (MRPs) have been improved to prevent forgery.
The Federal Minister said that Pakistan is gradually moving towards e-passports. That are in line with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards. And citizens will now be able to benefit from the e-gate facility at domestic and foreign airports.
The e-passport includes a biometric microchip, polycarbonate data page, laser-engraved information, and visa pages reflecting Pakistani culture. It also includes the mother’s name in children’s passports.
The Federal Minister said that these reforms have strengthened Pakistan’s international reputation and improved the country’s passport ranking.
He said that relations with Islamic countries and other friendly countries have also improved. And Pakistan’s initiatives are being fully appreciated.
Dr Tariq Fazal expressed satisfaction that these technological upgrades. And diplomatic efforts are leading to an increase in the global acceptance and prestige of Pakistan’s passport.
