Pakistan is regaining its global respect with every passing day, as the green passport ranking has claimed record spot in 2026.

The green passport jumped to 98th spot from 100th in the first month of 2026 due to diplomatic efforts and country’s record global agreements.

Pakistani passport holders can travel without the need of any visa or just with eta in over 30 countries.

To celebrate the achievement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi took to X, saying that “Pakistan’s passport ranking improving from 126th to 98th is a strong achievement and this momentum will continue, InshaAllah.”

Step-by-step process for online passport applications

Earlier, In a video message shared on social media, the department advised users to visit the official portal at www.onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk to apply for online passport renewal.

According to the video, users who already have an account should simply click the login button.

New users, however, must click register, fill out the required information, and ensure their mobile number and email address are correct.

After submitting the form and entering the verification code, applicants will receive a verification link via email.

Clicking the link and entering the code completes registration, after which users can log in with their email and password.

The department added that detailed instructions for submitting a new application have also been provided on the portal.

Applicants can choose from five available options based on their needs.

It clarified that online renewal is only allowed if the passport’s validity is less than one year.

Major changes such as name, profession, or other amendments cannot be processed online.

Citizens can also select their nearest passport office from a drop-down menu to avoid travelling long distances in case an office visit becomes necessary.

The video further outlines photo requirements for both men and women applying online.

It states that the photograph file size must not exceed 1 MB, and all uploaded documents must be in PNG, JPG, or JPEG format.

What is the Pakistani passport fee?

The fee for a Pakistani passport varies depending on the number of pages it has, its validity, and urgency. The urgency can be described as either being normal, urgent, or fast track.

For example, a 36-page passport with a 5-year validity is Rs4,500 for a normal application, Rs7,500 for urgent, and Rs12,500 for fast track. The fee increases for 72-page or 100-page passports and for 10-year validity. 

The fee and demands may fluctuate with time.
