US President Donald Trump has praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, describing him as a “great leader” and highlighting his role in Pakistan’s leadership.
Trump has also reiterated his claim that he played a key role in securing the ceasefire between Pakistan and India during their military confrontation in May 2025.
Speaking about the conflict, Trump said his intervention helped prevent further escalation and claimed that millions of lives were saved.
Trump has repeatedly credited his diplomatic efforts and pressure on both countries with helping bring an end to the fighting. Pakistan has also publicly acknowledged Trump’s role in facilitating the ceasefire.
Ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir at the White House in September 2025, Trump also described Shehbaz as a “great leader” and said both Pakistani leaders were “great”.
