During an ongoing intelligence based operation by security forces in the Palangzai area of North Waziristan, 45 militants, including key Fitna Al Khawarij commander Khalid Raza alias Sala, were killed, according to reports on Thursday.
The Palangzai area was reportedly being used as a key base for planning and carrying out terrorist activities. An operation was launched against the militants on June 2.
Sources said that so far, 45 FAK terrorists have been killed during the operation. Among them was a high value target, Khalid Raza alias Sala. The reports add that he was the area commander of the Gul Bahadur group in Palangzai.
The government had announced a reward of Rs4 million for information leading to the arrest or killing of Khalid Raza.
A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered during the operation. According to security sources, the seized weapons included a 12.7mm rifle, 14 SMG rifles and a rocket launcher.
According to sources, three major militant strongholds, identified as the Samiullah Complex, Abuzar Complex and Imdad Complex, have been completely destroyed during the operation.
Security forces are continuing clearance operations in the area to eliminate any remaining militants.
According to security sources, the forces remain committed to eliminating Fitna Al Khawarij and Fitna Al Hindustan from the country.
11 Khawarij of Indian-backed Fitna al Khwarij killed
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said recently that in the last forty eight hours, the security forces engaged multiple Khwarijs’ locations in the general area Datta Khel, North Waziristan District.
“Following intense and fierce exchanges of fire, eleven khwarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij were effectively neutralised”, said ISPR in a statement.
“Weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from killed Indian sponsored Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.”
