At least seven people were killed and several others injured when a passenger bus collided with a dumper truck near Havelian Interchange on the Hazara Motorway in Abbottabad early Friday morning.
According to initial reports, the ill-fated passenger bus was travelling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when one of its tyres reportedly burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle before crashing into a dumper truck.
The collision resulted in multiple casualties, prompting an immediate emergency response from Rescue 1122 Abbottabad.
Following the accident, Rescue 1122 dispatched seven ambulances and a rescue vehicle to the site to conduct rescue and relief operations.
The rescue operation was supervised by District Emergency Officer Hafeezur Rehman, with emergency personnel providing first aid to the injured before transporting them to nearby hospitals.
According to rescue officials, the deceased passengers reportedly belonged to Gilgit. The bodies were shifted to different medical facilities, including Type-D Hospital Havelian, Ayub Medical Complex and District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Abbottabad.
Several injured passengers, including women and children, were transported to Ayub Medical Complex for medical treatment. The condition of four injured passengers was reported to be critical.
Rescue officials said emergency teams worked to evacuate passengers from the damaged bus and ensure the injured received immediate medical attention.
Preliminary findings suggest that a tyre burst may have triggered the accident, although the exact circumstances surrounding the collision have yet to be officially established.
The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over road safety, vehicle maintenance and passenger transport operations on major highways.
Yesterday, at least 11 people were killed and 33 others were injured after a passenger bus collided with a trailer loaded with potatoes on Depalpur Road in Pakpattan.
