Around 180 passengers set to fly to Lahore were left stranded for hours at Karachi airport after a flight delay.
According to reports, a domestic flight, PF-145, to Lahore was postponed.
The boarding cards were issued to these passengers instantly, but they were forced to wait in the domestic departure lounge of the Karachi airport.
A lack of clear communication from airline staff was the issue, the passengers complained.
The airline said the delay was due to scheduled maintenance and added that refreshments were provided to passengers.
Increase in the price of jet fuel
Earlier, a record hike of 82 per cent was announced by the Pakistani government for the commercial flights.
Now, the new price of jet fuel is Rs342.37 per litre.
Fuel is one of the largest expenses for the aviation industry, and even small increases can have a noticeable impact on ticket prices.
Ticket prices for Pakistan increase
Airline sources have confirmed that fares in Pakistan have increased due to the spike in jet fuel costs.
Domestic tickets have reportedly risen by Rs2,800 to Rs5,000 on routes such as Karachi–Lahore and Karachi–Islamabad.
International travel has seen an even steeper hike, with fares increasing by Rs10,000 to Rs28,000. Flights to Middle Eastern and Central Asian destinations have become about Rs15,000 more expensive.
Meanwhile, tickets from Pakistan to Toronto and Manchester have surged by around Rs28,000, pushing the one-way fare beyond Rs250,000.
Global airlines also raising prices
Several international airlines have also announced fare increases in response to rising fuel costs.
Airlines including Qantas Airways, Scandinavian carrier SAS, and Air New Zealand said they were adjusting ticket prices due to the sharp rise in aviation fuel costs linked to the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
