ISLAMABAD: Beware of location scam, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has warned public regarding the misuse of the Google Maps location.
As per details, a scammer listed his personal contact details, including a phone number and email address, on the Regional Passport Office in Islamabad’s G-10 sector’s Google Maps and is demanding money from people through different wallets.
Reacting to the scam, the passport authority officials stated that no individual is permitted to collect payments on behalf of the passport office through personal channels.
“Beware: Do not share your personal information or make any payments to such individuals,” the DGIP stated in its advisory. For official queries or assistance, citizens have been advised to contact the DGIP Helpline at 051-111-344-777.
In a separate development, the federal government decided to make changes in Pakistani Passport.
In this regard, the General Immigration and Passport Office has obtained official permission from the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan.
Changes in Pakistani Passport: Details
According to the new design, the names of the citizen’s father as well as the mother will now be listed in the passport.
According to sources, the new passport will also include pictures of historical and important buildings of different provinces of the country, so that Pakistan’s cultural heritage and national identity can be highlighted.
Along with this, new security features will be added to the passport according to the requirements of the modern era, so that it becomes more difficult to make a fake copy of it.
According to officials, the printing process of the passport with the modern design will start soon.

You do not need to renew your Pakistani passport, as per the sources.
Your current passport is still valid until it expires. You only need to apply for a new passport when your old one expires or if you want to change your personal details, as per the sources till now.
