The tourist favourite thrilling Patriata cable car service in Murree has been temporarily suspended to make sure of the safety of visitors.
Patriata cable car service status today
According to the Deputy General Manager (DGM) of North, Muazzam Nazeer, the decision has been taken on the recommendation of international experts to replace the cable car’s iron rope, in order to bring the service in line with modern safety standards.
He said that the new iron rope will be imported from overseas. This is the reason it may take around one to one and a half months.
However, the Patriata chairlift service is continuing as normal, and tourists can still use it safely.
New tourist projects in Murree
The DGM North further added that several development projects are underway to upgrade tourism facilities in Murree on modern lines.
A tender has also been issued for a state of the art safari train for Kashmir Point, according to the reports. In addition to this, modern electric carts are also being introduced for tourists.
He further said that work is also ongoing on projects such as a glass walkway bridge, new chairlifts, a paragliding club, and other major tourism developments.
After completion of these projects, Murree will emerge as a modern and model tourist destination.
Muazzam Nazeer also confirmed that the Patriata cable car will be restored after all safety requirements are completed and approval is given by experts.
He reiterated that the safety of tourists is the top priority of the tourism department.
