The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a stern warning to current and former cricketers against taking part in the Asian Legends League in Zambia, saying the tournament has not been sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
According to a PCB spokesperson, the ICC has classified the Asian Legends League as an unauthorised event, making participation without prior approval a breach of cricket regulations.
The board warned that any player who participates in the tournament without first obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PCB will face a two-year ban.
In addition, the PCB said that current or former cricketers who are found to have violated the rules will be ineligible to hold any position within the PCB or the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for two years.
The cricket board reiterated that all Pakistani cricketers, whether active or retired, must secure an NOC before participating in any overseas cricket league or event.
The PCB also reaffirmed its commitment to upholding ICC regulations and preserving the integrity of the sport, emphasising that players must receive clearance from their respective home boards before featuring in foreign tournaments.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a major revamp of the 2026–27 domestic cricket season, introducing significant changes to its schedule and tournament structure as part of its preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
According to the PCB, the revamped domestic calendar is designed to strengthen the country’s cricket structure, enhance the quality of competition, and identify the best talent ahead of the global event.
The season will begin on August 11 with the four-team National Champions Cup, a one-day tournament to be held in Multan. The National Selection Committee will select the participating teams to assess emerging talent in the ODI format.
The domestic calendar will feature two List A tournaments this season. Following the National Champions Cup, the President’s Cup will also be played.
Meanwhile, the number of regional teams has been increased from 18 to 20, with Sialkot and Peshawar each being allowed to field a second team.
