The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that it will be taking legal action against Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for violating his contract with the Islamabad United in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).
Muzarabani, who has played eighty-nine T20 internationals for Zimbabwe, was signed for Rs11 million as a replacement of West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph ahead of the PSL 11 that will be played between March 26 and May 3.
Despite this, the 29-year-old quit joining his PSL engagement to join the Indian Premier League (IPL), joining Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
He was brought in when Mustafizur Rahman was released from KKR on the direction of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The PCB’s step to take legal action highlights an ever-increasing tension created by overlapping cricket calendars as the PSL and IPL happen simultaneously for the second consecutive year.
This is after a similar scenario last season, where South African all rounder Corbin Bosch withdrew after being drafted by Peshawar Zalmi and later came to Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement, which again led to a one season ban in PSL.

Muzarabani’s exit follows a wonderful T20 World Cup in which he managed to pick 13 wickets in six games with a highlight four wickets in Zimbabwe’s powerhouse group stage win over Australia.
The legal proceedings are indicative of the PCB’s attempts to enforce some contractual obligations and uphold the integrity of the PSL.
The case also poses wider issues on the commitment of players and the effect of overlapping schedules on the domestic cricket, especially as the temptation of the IPL keeps taking international players away from other tournaments.
