The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to entrust several key positions to former captains as part of a major restructuring of the national cricket setup.
According to media reports, former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is the frontrunner to become the head coach of the national Test team. He is also likely to be included in the national selection committee, giving him a significant role in shaping the future of Pakistan cricket.
Sources further reveal that former captain Mohammad Hafeez is being considered for the position of Director of International Cricket. In addition to this role, Hafeez may also be inducted into the national selection committee.
The expected appointments are part of the PCB’s broader efforts to strengthen its cricketing structure by bringing experienced former players into decision-making positions. An official announcement from the board is awaited.
Sources further indicate that Mohammad Hafeez may be appointed as the PCB’s Director of International Cricket. In addition, he could also be given a role on the national selection committee.
Meanwhile, sources suggest that Test team coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and captain Shan Masood are likely to be removed from their respective positions. However, Sarfaraz Ahmed is expected to continue in his role with the Pakistan Shaheen team.
