The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a series of open trials through the ‘Future Stars Talent Hunt Programme’ in 15 cities to identify young cricket talent and expand the national pool of professional players.
The PCB’s talent hunt program will start on February 11. The trials will select around 350 players for 16 regional academies, PCB has confirmed it at the social media post on X.
Trials and selection process
Open trials will be held in different cities of the country from February 11 to May 1 for the selection of young players from across the country. A selection panel comprising regional coaches, including PCB Director High Performance Aqib Javed and National Cricket Academy coaches Misbah-ul-Haq and Abdul Razzaq, will conduct the open trials.
Players will be shortlisted for the 16 regional academies, with up to 24 players selected from each region. These players will then attend a four-week specialised training programme at their regional headquarters. The best performers from the regional camps may also be called to the National Cricket Academy for further training and development.
Reward and development opportunities
On the day of the trials, the best batsman, fast bowler and spinner will also receive a cash prize. The best players from the selected players will also be invited to the National Cricket Academy campus.
The players will also undergo skill development at PCB regional academies throughout the year. The selected players will get the opportunity to be selected in domestic cricket and PSL in the future.
This initiative aims to strengthen regional talent pools and create a clear pathway for young cricketers to progress from district-level competitions to national and professional levels.
Trial venues and dates
The open trials will run from February 11 to May 1. Major cities hosting trials include Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Rawalpindi, Abbottabad, Muzaffarabad, Sialkot, and Sukkur. Each venue will cater to players from its respective region.
Through this nationwide scouting and development programme, the PCB hopes to provide young cricketers with structured training, competitive exposure, and a pathway to professional cricket.
