The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning of heavy rain across Lahore and various parts of Punjab till August 15.
According to PDMA, rain is expected in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Risk of urban flooding in major cities
The Director General of PDMA said heavy rain in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Multan could lead to urban flooding in vulnerable parts of these cities.
According to PDMA, rain is also expected in Rawalpindi and the Pothohar region. However, Murree, Galyat and other hilly areas will be at risk of landslides during this period.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable and hilly areas to remain cautious and take necessary precautions with accordance to the weather forecast.
Will it rain on Independence Day, August 14?
Previously, PMD forecasted monsoon winds entering the upper parts of the country. until August 15. This means it might also rain on August 14, 2026, when people are celebrating Independence Day.
Will it rain in Northern areas of Pakistan?
Rain is expected in several parts of Azad Kashmir. These include Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Bagh, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur.
Several areas of Gilgit-Baltistan may also get rain. These include Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar.
Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also likely to receive rain. Areas including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Galiyat, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Haripur, Kurram and Khyber may see thunderstorms and strong winds.
