Web desk: PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz met the newly elected members of the assembly, congratulating them on their victory in the recent by-elections.
Addressing the gathering, Nawaz Sharif said the party’s strong performance reflected the public’s trust and clear rejection of negative politics.
Nawaz Sharif claimed that the PML-N had “defeated its opponents badly” in the by-elections, adding that the results showed people had rejected hatred, lies and corruption. He said voters had chosen performance over rhetoric, as reflected in the party’s decisive wins.
Criticising the PTI, the PML-N president said that inflation had been at 3 per cent during the PML-N era. While the PTI government had taken it to as high as 39 per cent.
“The entire nation is suffering from the conditions they brought to the country,” he remarked. He added that the economy had been stable and the country was progressing in 2017 before political instability halted development.
Nawaz Sharif also said that the government measures over the past year and a half had significantly reduced inflation. He added that if the pace of development set before 2017 had continued, “the IMF would not have been worried today.”
Further, he also pointed to initiatives such as the establishment of the public service card, asserting that the PML-N had pulled Pakistan out of the risk of default and was now taking the country to the next level.
He stressed that Pakistan was being steered back onto the path of development, and the party remained committed to economic revival and public welfare.
