The actual reason behind the sudden disappearance of People’s Bus Service buses from the roads in the city of Quaid has come to light, causing severe difficulties for passengers.
According to sources, several buses have broken down as a result of water-mixed diesel being put into the buses, with a large number of them completely disappearing from routes due to engine failure.
Sources have revealed that diesel was being supplied by a private contractor from his personal petrol pump, and the poor quality of the fuel caused the buses’ engines to become non-functional.
Sources further said that all the buses damaged as a result of this serious negligence have immediately been parked at the relevant depots for repairs.
Due to the sudden shortage of buses and their disappearance from routes, more than 11 People’s Bus Service buses alone have broken down on the highly important route from Tower to Gulshan-e-Hadeed.
This situation has increased the difficulties of thousands of citizens who travel on a daily basis. In the intense heat and humid weather, citizens are having to wait for as long as an hour to get public transport.
Members of the public and daily commuters have demanded that the relevant authorities take immediate notice of the situation of the People’s Bus Service, take strict legal action against the contractor providing substandard diesel, and repair and restore the damaged buses to their routes as soon as possible to alleviate the difficulties faced by citizens.
