Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has approved changes to salaries, allowances and pensions for its serving and retired employees.
According to a notification issued by PESCO, employees will receive an ad-hoc relief allowance from July 1. The company has also approved a 15 per cent Disparity Reduction Allowance for eligible employees.
The allowance will be calculated on the basis of employees’ basic salaries. The terms and conditions set by the federal government will apply. 15 per cent allowance covers employees from BPS-1 to BPS-22.
How much allowance increased for employees?
PESCO has also provided additional relief through changes to conveyance related allowances.
The special conveyance allowance for employees with disabilities has been increased from Rs6,000 to Rs10,000 per month. This means eligible employees will receive an additional Rs4,000 every month.
Meanwhile, the regular conveyance allowance for PESCO employees has been increased by 50 per cent.
PESCO pensioners to receive 7 per cent increase
Retired PESCO employees have also been included in the latest relief package. The company has approved a 7 per cent increase in pensions.
The pension increase is in line with the relief announced for federal pensioners in the 2026-27 federal budget. The government had announced a 7 per cent increase in pensions as part of its financial measures for retired employees.
Previously, another major change in benefits for PESCO employees took place. The company ended the system of providing free electricity units to employees and replaced it with monthly cash payments based on pay grade. The PESCO Board of Directors approved the monetisation of these electricity benefits, subject to the rules and conditions of the Federal Power Division.
