Motorway closed for passenger vehicles amid torrential rain

The entry of passenger vehicles onto the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway has been temporarily suspended due to heavy rain.

According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, this decision was made to ensure passenger safety, as the rain has increased the risk of slippery roads and reduced visibility. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and wait until weather conditions improve.

Rain, snowfall, and flooding are expected across the country, and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert.

The Motorway Police stated that traffic will be restored as soon as the situation returns to normal, while staff continue to monitor conditions closely.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Islamabad Police reported that intermittent rain is ongoing in the city, affecting traffic flow due to water accumulation on several highways. Traffic police officers are actively managing the situation to maintain smooth movement.

Earlier, the Meteorological Department had forecast rainfall across several parts of the country from April 1 to April 4th, signalling a shift in weather conditions across the province.
