In the 17th match of Pakistan Super League 11, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings by 159 runs. Match played at National Bank Stadium, Karachi Kings were bowled out for 87 runs in 16.1 overs while chasing a target of 247 set by Peshawar Zalmi. Openers David Warner and Muhammad Wasim were dismissed without scoring any runs.
Aggressive batter Azam Khan scored 25 runs, while Saad Baig made 14, and Khushdil Shah contributed 10 runs. Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi set a massive target of 247-runs for Karachi Kings.
Babar Azam, Mendis set record for highest partnership in PSL history
Peshawar Zalmi’s batsmen Babar Azam and Kaushal Mendis set a record for the highest partnership in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history.
World’s top batsmen inclduing Babar Azam and Kaushal Mendis, shared a record-breaking partnership of 191 runs. Previously, Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan had set a partnership record of 176 runs for Karachi Kings against Islamabad United.
Kaushal Mendis played a brilliant innings of 109 runs off 52 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 14 fours. Babar Azam also impressed with 87 runs, while Abdul Samad played a blistering knock of 40 runs off just 12 balls. For Karachi Kings, opener Muhammad Haris was dismissed without scoring, and Michael Bracewell managed only 6 runs.
In bowling, Abbas Afridi took two wickets, and Khushdil Shah claimed one. Earlier, Karachi Kings captain David Warner won the toss and elected to field first, sending Peshawar Zalmi in to bat.
Muhammad Hamza made his debut for Karachi Kings, replacing Hasan Ali, while Peshawar Zalmi’s team remained unchanged. Babar Azam stated that he would try to make good use of the first six overs and play positively during the middle overs.
David Warner noted that the pitch seemed slow, similar to previous matches, and the team would aim to restrict Peshawar Zalmi to a low total. It is worth mentioning that in the previous match, Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars by 9 wickets.
