Petrol subsidy for transport sector
CM Maryam took to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to inform about the targeted subsidy.
She stated, “In light of the surge in international oil prices driven by ongoing global crises and conflict, pressure on domestic fuel costs has become unavoidable.
Further, she added, “To mitigate this impact, Punjab has introduced a targeted monthly subsidy: Rs70,000 for registered goods transport vehicles, Rs80,000 for large transport vehicles, and Rs100,000 for public service buses.”
She explained further that this relief has been extended to ease the operational burden of the people.
CM Maryam urged the transporters across Punjab province to act responsibly and to not pass the increased costs on to consumers and passengers.
“I will closely monitor and regulate the situation to ensure that the full benefit of this subsidy is passed on to the public,” she further added.
She further expressed that the current time is a time for collective responsibility, compassion, and unity in the national interest.
