Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Syed Mohsin Gilani has dedicated the Pakistan women’s team’s record-breaking victory in their opening match of the FIFA series to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
In an official statement, Gilani congratulated the nation on the team’s historic achievement, praising the players for making the country proud on the international stage. He said that at a time when Pakistan’s leadership is playing a significant role in promoting peace, the women’s team has delivered an inspiring performance on the football field.
He further added that the national side’s success is a tribute to the country’s leadership and reflects the growing potential of women’s football in Pakistan.
Mohsin Gilani further stated that they will fulfil their responsibility to bring pride to Pakistan in football. He said that a golden era for Pakistan women’s football has begun, and the players are showing the world that they are capable of playing at the highest level. He also expressed his determination to take further steps to develop women’s football so that Pakistan can achieve greater success on the global stage.
Pakistan women’s football team’s historic victory
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan’s women’s football team made history with a dominant 8–0 victory over the Turks and Caicos Islands at the start of the FIFA series.
According to reports, this emphatic win marks the biggest victory in the team’s history, surpassing their previous record of a 7–0 win against the Maldives in 2022.
Goals for Pakistan were scored by Zahmena Malik, Aqsa Mushtaq, Laila Banaras, Maryam Mahmood, Nadia Khan, and Israa Khan.
The national side established control early in the match, scoring four goals in the first half, and continued their strong performance by adding four more in the second half to seal a memorable victory.
